Baptismal Font of Sant Cugat, based on the octagon

El Mosen asked for a design based on the octagon as a symbol of Baptism and that could be disassembled to facilitate movement.
The pile or pile in Sant Cugat is octagonal, with the edges at 45º. It has a spike at the bottom that fits into the wooden foot. On this stem is a metric 8 threaded bushing.
The foot starts from an octagonal base with 45º edges, 10 wheels at the base with 15 kg of resistance each.
The arches, Romanesque and Gothic, are made up of 8 sheets each. Glued and screwed to the base. n the union of the Gothic, a cross is formed that in the center has the box to house the Baptismal Font. The set is fixed with a screw, although without it it is usable without a problem.
The materials are Crema Marfil marble for the sink, Iroko for the base, Oak for the Romanesque arches and Sapeli for the Gothic arches and the cross that joins them.
I was lucky enough to finish and join the pieces in the tower of the Abbey House of the Monastery, where I took the photos. It's the closest I've felt to starring in the pillars of the earth.
